God Seeks the Lost

If we, who are mortal non-god being, are totally depraved. And there is nothing we can do about it, what hope do we have?

32 And I (Jesus), when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself. John 12:32, NET©

Jesus says in the bible that he draws all people to himself. There is no one, among those who have heard about Jesus, that does not have an opinion about him. Of those who have not heard of him, he raises their inner questions about:

  • Who am I?
  • What is the meaning of life?
  • Where do we come from?
  • Where do I go when we die?

The people who Jesus draws close to him, even if they do not know who he is, will do whatever they can to find the truth.

44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, “And they will all be taught by God.” Everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to me. John 6:44-45, NET©

Deep down in the heart of every person, a silent and quiet voice whispers, hoping that you will listen to it. That voice wants to make sure that you discover the truth, about the meaning of life, and where we are heading. The voice hopes you will listen to find out who he is that is talking to you and draws you. It is God who seeks you, and who wants, you to learn and to find the way. Those who listen and learns, will find the way.

7 So God again ordains a certain day, “Today,” speaking through David after so long a time, as in the words quoted before, “O, that today you would listen as he speaks! Do not harden your hearts.” Hebrews 4:7, NET©

It’s incredibly easy to silence that little voice. You may want to stay unaware where you are heading, or that there is an eternity waiting for you. Perhaps you chase the good life and think that temporary pleasure is the most important thing in this life. But do not let anything stop you from finding the truth, do not put the lid on, even if it feels uncomfortable. Be prepared to follow the voice wherever it leads you. Also, be sure to have a love for the truth even if it is unpleasant.

20 Listen! I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20, NET©

God is seeking to have a private and personal relationship with you. This will set you apart from the rest of the world. But it comes at a price. Don’t forget that glory is forever.
